Nikolas List Offers A Tour Of TOMBVILLE
Belgian director Nikolas List became an instant favorite around these parts thanks to his 2006 short film Ange. An eerie, surreal exercise in body horror Ange won raves on the festival circuit, leaving only the question of when we would be able to see more from its young creator.
As is often the case it has been a long road for List to make the transition from short to feature but he is well underway on his debut now, a Lynchian headscratcher that turns western tropes on their ear titled Tombville. The story follows a young man who wakes up - with only fragmentary memories of who he is and how he got there - on the outskirts of the titular town, a town populated with a variety of bizarre inhabitants which he simply cannot leave.
Now two weeks into production, List has shared a first gallery of images from the film. There's some very striking work below but be aware that one, in particular, is very definitely not safe for workplace viewing.
