North Bend 2018: Final Wave Announced, ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE to Close The Fest!
One has to ask if the residents of North Bend, Washington, will be adequately prepared for what is coming to their quaint little Pacific northwest town during the last full weekend in August this Summer. The inagural North Bend Film Festival is coming the town of Damn Fine Coffee next month; it has announed the final wave of films in the lineup.
UK horror comedy musical Anna And The Apocalypse continues to roll out further into the festival circuit and will close the festival. Other festival regulars at this point, Relaxer and Piercing, are also in the lineup this year. There will also be a rep screening of the Pacific Northwest set drama My Private Idaho from Gus Van Sant, starring Keanu Reeves and the late River Phoenix.
Apart from the films the festival will also host excursions like a Twin Peaks Tour because North Bend is where Lynch filmed some of his cult show. Because the festival is held right in the cradle of mother nature's bossom you just have to go on an nature hike. And in an amazing turn against festival logic there will be Damn Fine Coffee mixers. We digress. There are a lot of great films and events happening at the first ever North Bend Film Festival next month. The press release follows.
The North Bend Film Festival is right around the corner and we’re thrilled to announce the full line-up for our inaugural edition, including Cinema Vista and Something Strange feature and short film programs. In addition to the films, the weekend of August 23rd to the 26th will be rich with events that embrace the town of North Bend, once the original shooting location for David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, such as a special Twin Peaks Tour, a scenic mountainside hike (offering attendees a rare chance for excursion!), and 'Damn Fine Coffee' mixers to kick off the mornings just right.
Cinema Vista offers a spectrum of vanguard cinema with centerpiece screening SHIRKERS (presented by The Stranger) and retro screening of the iconic Pacific Northwest queer feature MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO (presented with Seattle-based Three Dollar Bill Cinema).

For the festival’s centerpiece, we’re excited to showcase Sandi Tan’s docu-mystery SHIRKERS, a visual and emotional rollercoaster powered by a dreamer’s redemptive love of cinema.

Set in the 1990’s runaway-dominated streets of the Pacific Northwest and loosely based on Shakespeare’s Henry IV, this seminal film by Gus Van Sant (GOOD WILL HUNTING, MILK) tells the tale of a narcoleptic street kid named Mike (River Phoenix) who befriends a fellow hustler (Keanu Reeves) on his journey to find his estranged mother.
