GHOST IN THE SHELL Trailer: Scarlett Johannson as Major Kusanagi in First Trailer
At the tail end of a week of pretty trailers comes the full trailer for the Ghost in the Shell live action film starring Scarlett Johannson.
What do we like in it? We like the thank you wink to the wall climbing from The Matrix, of which Ghost in the Shell was very influential in that film's creation. We like the world building and art design, which appears to be on par with the work of Mamoru Oshii and his GitS legacy. It is a combination of grit and gloss, humanity on the cusp of full integration with cybernetics with its feet still planted on asphalt.
We see none of the cyber world yet though. The trailer focuses on luring in action fans first, while giving enough references to the original anime to give hope for the longtime fans of the original Japanese franchise.
It is a good looking trailer for sure. Does it please the hardcore GitS fan base which has been openly displeased about the new movie off the hop? Let us know below.
