Sheila Kearns' story is a story both bizarre and excessive, the story of a 58 year old woman sentenced last week to 90 days in prison for the heinous crime of ... showing a movie in class. An appropriate movie? Not particularly - it was horror anthology The ABCs Of Death, on which I served as an associate producer - but prison time for showing a movie that is legally and readily accessible throughout the state that is now sending her to prison for showing it? Whatever you may think about her fitness to teach - and, yes, she has already lost her job over this - surely sending a woman to prison is just wildly excessive.

And this is why lead ABCs Of Death producers Ant Timpson and Tim League have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds in support of Kearns' appeal of her sentence.
