Mark Your Calendars, Canada! Screening Dates For DOC OF THE DEAD
Hey Canada! Mark your calendars because Alexandre O. Philippe's zombie documentary Doc of the Dead is hitting Canadians cinemas starting tomorrow night right here in Toronto. The doc will then shamble across this great nation of ours for walks (not runs!) in cinemas in Calgary, Winnipeg, Vancouver, then back to Waterloo!
The definitive documentary on zombie culture, Doc of the Dead hosts a rich pop culture dialogue with zombie experts and celebrities, and offers up participation from YouTubers and indie filmmakers, where it investigates the possibility and ramifications of an actual zombie outbreak.
An in-depth exploration into the origin of the zombie as we know it, Doc of the Dead also features interviews with historians, authors, make-up effects artists, and some of Cinema's biggest horror icons, including legendary director George Romero, Simon Pegg, Bruce Campbell, Max Brooks and many others.
Twitch contributor John Jarzemsky caught the doc at SXSW and came out with a mostly positive review of the film,
Doc of the Dead manages to stay fresh and entertaining for (most of) its entire running time... Still, Doc of the Dead is a worthy follow-up for Phillipe, and may give new insights into the genre to its more casual fans, as well as a healthy amount of obsession and gushing for the more hardcore audience members in attendance.
