Toronto 2014: First BACKCOUNTRY Clip Confirms You're In Bear Country
See, now, this is why I'm hesitant about visiting Canada and heading into some beautiful woods there, because I'm afraid something like the events depicted in Backcountry will happen to me.
Set to enjoy its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, September 8, Backcountry is based on a true story. According to the official synopsis:
A bear attack thriller reminiscent of true-life survival stories like 127 Hours and gritty animal encounter thrillers like The Grey, Backcountry follows an urban couple who embark on a camping trip in the Canadian backcountry. Alex (Jeff Roop) is a seasoned outdoorsman while Jenn (Missy Peregrym), a corporate lawyer, is not. After getting hopelessly lost in the wilderness, and without food or water, the couple struggles to find their way back to civilization. When they enter a predatory bear's territory, their trip turns into a horrific tale of tragedy, will, and survival.
Adam MacDonald wrote and directed; he and Missy Peregrym have acted together in the TV series Rookie Blue. You can watch the clip below, which starts when the couple wakes up, thinking they're safe, only to discover they're not.
Then, sometime when it's not so busy, I'll tell you about the time I started to attack a bear when I was 6 years old.
