Vincenzo Natali's NEUROMANCER inches towards being more than just virtual reality
Here is some good news to come out of Cannes.  The Canadian / European co-production of Neuromancer, with ScreenAnarchy favourite Vincenzo Natali in the directors chair, has just got enough foreign capital to begin pre-production.  Those familiar with this project know that it has gone through a lot of studios, directors, and writers (about 20 years worth) rivaling only Ender's Game as a 'classic piece of science fiction' that cannot seem to make its way to the big screen.

The film is to be shot in multiple locations around the globe, with actual shooting beginning sometime in 2012.

Seven Arts Pictures and GFM Films announced today that "Neuromancer," written and directed by Vincenzo Natali and adapted from the William Gibson best-selling novel, has secured sales from distributors in the first three days of Cannes. Territories licensed include: South Korea and Thailand, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India, CIS, Poland, and the Middle East. [...] Work on the visual effects has already begun, with an anticipated start date in the first quarter of 2012
