Tang Wei returns to the Silver Screen in Romcom CROSSING HENNESSY
Its been two years since Tang Wei was blacklisted from the censorship board in China for the Lust, Caution controversy.  I always felt sorry for the way she was unfairly treated but fortunately for us, she is back again in the Hong Kong romantic comedy Crossing Hennessy from screenwriter-turned-director Ivy Ho (Comrades: Almost a Love Story) with co-star singer-actor Jacky Cheung.  It has the Chinese media buzzing on her portrayal of a some-what goofy character which is a complete departure from her last role.  Good on her for persevering against the set-back.
CROSSING HENNESSY is a light-hearted tale of a happy-go-lucky electric appliance store owner (Cheung) and a quiet, stubborn girl-next-door (Tang), who takes care of a sanitaryware shop for her uncle. The relatives of Cheung and Tang set the two up for a date, seeing that they have both entered their thirties and still have no stable partner. The truth is, Cheung and Tang both have someone else in their hearts. The "date" didn't work as well as the families wished, but day by day, a somewhat peculiar friendship comes into bud..
The film is expected to open in Hong Kong theaters in April.  However, it will not be screened in mainland China.  You'll find the trailer embedded below.
