Eli Roth's THE GREEN INFERNO Will Head To Theaters After All
The horror picture debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2013 and made the genre fest rounds after that before getting picked up for theatrical distribution. It was originally set to be released in September 2014, but the distribution company experienced some issues and Roth's movie got caught up in the turmoil. Now, as announced by director Eli Roth, producer Jason Blum, via his Blumhouse Tilt company, will release it in U.S. theaters later this year.
Although I've not been a fan of Roth's movies, The Green Inferno surprised me when I saw it at the Morbido Film Festival last year. It's as gruesome as expected, but the characters were more relatable and more humane, which made it much more intense as an explicit (and very bloody) thriller.
It's the kind of movie that plays well with an audience, where you can hear people moaning with empathy and/or outrage.
