The Teaser For Sono Sion's WHY DON'T YOU PLAY IN HELL? May Be The Most Insane 35 Seconds Ever Teased
At this point it just feels plain crazy to call Sono Sion merely prolific. I mean the man has made  nearly two movies a year for the past five years. But whatever the case may be Sono is a beastly magician of a moviemaker. And the teaser for his latest Why Don't You Play In Hell? just proves how loud and boisterous and fantastic a magician he is. Yes, Sono looks to be going the way of the blockbuster, but without losing any of the eccentric and outrageous traits that make up a Sono film. Described by the man (or magician) himself as an action film about the love of 35mm, Why Don't You Play In Hell? boasts an impressive cast with Sakaguchi Tak and Kunimura Jun, among others. It opens in Japan on September 28. Now let's just hope we can get it across the Pacific by year's end.

This looks AWESOME! I can't wait for this Sion Sono action blockbuster. His spirit and maverick filmmaking style has not been diluted in anyway and it has a great cast. Fumi Nikaido with Sion Sono again? Nice...nice...

Damn! That shot of the girl swimming (?) through blood is AMAZING.

Any word on the release of Tak Sagauchi and Sion Sono's samurai movie they were supposed to be working on together?

I'd say that Sion Sono is the most exciting currently active Japanese director, almost everything he puts out is at least worth viewing, and it's often amazing.

That bogged down and - I believe - has been abandoned. Couldn't get finance together.

I'd say it's pretty damn hard to argue against that position.

I don't know what the fuck this is but I want it inside me

God damn, thats a dissapointment...

I'd reserve that honor for Shinya Tsukamoto ... but Sono is definitely the first runner up.
