Can Oldboy director Park Chan-wook make his distinctive style work in English? That has been the question ever since word first broke about the upcoming Stoker. The English language thriller written by Wentworth Miller and starring Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska, Dermot Mulroney and Matthew Goode has been kept largely out of sight for the past year but the first footage has now arrived online following a preview on Entertainment Tonight.

And the verdict is good.

After India's father dies, her Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her unstable mother. She comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives and becomes increasingly infatuated with him.
While it would be much more effective without the ET logo and commentary superimposed you can take a look at the first footage below.
