THE CAPTURED BIRD to premiere at World Wide Short Festival

Written and directed by former Rue Morgue editor-in-chief Jovanka Vuckovic and produced by Jason Lapeyre (I Declare War) with Guillermo del Toro tying a ribbon on top as executive producer, The Captured Bird is has an astounding pool of talent in the genre world involved including cinematographer Karim Hussain (Antiviral, Hobo With A Shotgun), editor Douglas Buck (Family PortraitsThe Theatre Bizarre's best segment "The Accident").  


 A little girl drawing chalk figures on a sidewalk is drawn to a decrepit industrial building. Inside, she witnesses the birth of five horrifying apparitions. They creep towards her, determined to get outside the building and into the world.


"The Captured Bird is inspired in part by a childhood nightmare, the writings of H. P. Lovecraft, the fables of the Brothers Grimm and the paranormal phenomenon referred to as The Shadow People," explains writer-director Vuckovic. "It's sort of a dark fable that I hope people will find haunting, poetic and beautiful."

Set to premiere at Worldwide Short Film Festival (WSFF) which runs in Toronto from June 5 - 10th, the film will also sreen for press and industry in the Cannes short film corner.
