The Ronin Attacks In 13 ASSASSINS
One of the finest films in the Japanese cult auteur's extensive career, 13 Assassins is a classically styled samurai drama that builds to an epically scaled showdown. Here's part of how the Toronto International Film Festival described the film:

The year is 1844. A young lord rapes and kills with impunity by virtue of his political connections. Though the era of the samurai is fading, an honest government official covertly enlists thirteen swordsmen to assassinate this sadistic lord before he can seize more power. With the clock ticking, the assassins lay a deadly trap for the lord and his army of bodyguards, culminating in one of the bloodiest, muddiest swordfights ever put to film.

We ran the US trailer and a clip from the film Monday and are following that with extended clips throughout this week. Today we get my personal favorite moment of the film, the attack of a ronin and his pupil against impossible odds.

13 Assassins is now available in the US on VOD and will be hitting theaters April 29th.
