Bollywood Horror Goes 3D With HAUNTED From Vikram Bhatt
This second trailer is for India's "first Stereoscopic 3D film", which is marketing, there have been other 3D films, but not for many years. The film is Haunted 3D, and is directed by horror specialist Vikram Bhatt, who has a couple of pretty successful scary flicks in his not to distant past with Raaz and Raaz 2. I cannot attest to the actual scariness of those films, but they made a few bucks, so the market has spoken.
This time around, Bhatt is making a good, old-fashioned haunted house story. The film begins with a real estate agent who needs to sell a house, but soon realizes there are bad vibes and ghosts who'd like to prevent that from happening. Like all good haunted house movies, there will be creepiness in the present and exposition in the past, and it looks like there may even be time travel involved. Goody!
The trailer is pretty ho-hum for the first half, but Bhatt gives us a taste of the 3D zazz toward the end. It looks like he has a decent idea what to do with the technology. He's no Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine 3D, Drive Angry 3D), but he seems to know the kind of gags that make 3D fun. My experience with Bollywood horror is limited and disappointing, but I keep waiting for someone to do something good, could this be it? My guess is no, but I'll give it a shot.
