The Many Faces Of Ryan Reynolds

Normally I use the quiz for an actor I really really like, so that would exclude Ryan Reynolds. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the guy or anything, he just was never something I particularly looked forward to in films. On top of that, he's like a sympathetically nerdy albatross, joining genre projects which look good on paper at the start, but often turn out to be pretty bad afterwards.

But then came Deadpool. and that film does shake things up a bit, as our reviewer Kwenton Bellette noticed. Most of all, Ryan has actually managed to make me laugh a few times in interviews and clips of his backstage shenanigans. The sense of fun he's having with this character is very contagious, and it elevates both him and his film.

So... OK, he gets the quiz this week. Click through our gallery of eleven images, and guess which movies or shows they're from. No competition, no prizes, just for fun, try to see how far you get without using IMDb!

And I'll post the answers next Thursday, or earlier if someone gets all of them right...

And here he is as Wade Wilson in Deadpool, the superhero who seriously needs to suit up but not shut up.

This picture doesn't count yet for the quiz, but all others do, so please browse through the gallery: click on the edge of the picture to get the next one, and see how many of them all you can identify!

#04 - Harold & Kumar go to White Castle
#05 - Smoking Aces?
#06 - Buried

#08 - The Voices

#11 - The Croods

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 10:36 AM

All correct!
That leaves 2, 3, 7, 9 and 10...

ManateeAdvocateFebruary 12, 2016 11:07 AM

9 is Safe House.

Simon GingrasFebruary 12, 2016 12:14 PM

10 Amytiville Horror

cuckoozeyFebruary 12, 2016 12:20 PM

Pretty sure #3 is Just Friends (2005), man that guy has made some baaaad movies.

God of JoyFebruary 12, 2016 12:33 PM

4. Harold and Kumar go to white castle?
7. The Proposal

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 1:16 PM

He has, but #3 is not JUST FRIENDS.
Maybe check the numbering? ;-)

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 1:17 PM

No, it is not SAFE HOUSE. Same pose though...

cuckoozeyFebruary 12, 2016 1:17 PM

Not him as a fat guy...?

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 1:17 PM

That just leaves 3, 7 and 9.

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 1:18 PM

We already had 4, but 7 is correct!
That just leaves 3 and 9...

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 1:21 PM

Yes, but #2 not #3.
But you've obviously got the right picture so I'll give it: #2 is JUST FRIENDS!

cuckoozeyFebruary 12, 2016 1:22 PM

Ha, thanks...guess I can't figure the numbering. On my screen 1's him bald, 2's him ripped and 3's him fat.

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 1:24 PM

This sometimes happens on mobile phones. When you scroll further down, there normally is text under each picture saying: "Quiz picture number four" and such.

That first picture doesn't participate, it often just shows the reason for having the quiz (in this case DEADPOOL).

cuckoozeyFebruary 12, 2016 1:25 PM

Ah, cheers Ard...

ManateeAdvocateFebruary 12, 2016 1:29 PM

Oh no! I was all confident even. rekt

I just watched The Nines again recently. I dig that flick and his performance(s) in it.

KurtFebruary 12, 2016 3:42 PM

You have to be Canadian to even recognize Screenshot #3.

I have not seen the movie that #9 is taken from but I bet it shitty remake of SECONDS that he did with Ben Kingsley, SELF/LESS, which nobody saw. Bad that my anger at remaking one of my favourite films has enabled images from the even the trailer to burned in...argh!

bricriu .February 12, 2016 4:25 PM

How is the greatest film of all time not in this list?

No Van Wilder love? Very dissapointing, friends.

UilickMcGeeFebruary 12, 2016 5:58 PM

Buried is the most horrible film I've ever sat through...and not in a good way.

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 7:35 PM

Kurt, you're listed as a contributor, stop participating! This looks weird...

But yeah, I know you're right, it is SELF/LESS, and I know you didn't contribute that particular shot (nor did I tell you what it was beforehand...), so this counts. No more hints at number 3 though!

Ard VijnFebruary 12, 2016 7:36 PM

True. Well, that it's not in here I mean.

KurtFebruary 12, 2016 8:20 PM

Moderators need to have a little fun too, once in a while!

Ard VijnFebruary 13, 2016 6:33 PM
