DEATH NOTE: Adam Wingard Now Attached To English Version Of Japanese Manga
THR is reporting that Adam Wingard, director of festival favorites You're Next and The Guest, is now attached to the English language version of Death Note for Warner Bros. No word if longtime partner Simon Barrett is coming on board to do anything about the script to date.

The original Japanese manga spawned two successful live action films, starring Matsuyma Kenichi and Fujiwara Tasuya, in 2006, both directed by Kaneko Shusuke. There was a spin-off film, L: Save the World, in 2008, dirtected by Ringu director Nakata Hideo.

Wow, this is really interesting news. I hope he won't be hamstrung by a poor script or studio interference, I feel like his films thus far have stood out due to the freedom he and Barrett have had.
