R100: If You Think This Poster Is Risque, Check Out The Trailer
Hands up: Who wants to see the movie that made ScreenAnarchy founder Todd Brown eat his own shirt in Austin back in September of 2013? Of course. We all do. But alI the Japanese dominatrices dolled up in all sorts of leather bondage gear may be more of a draw!

Drafthouse Films will be releasing Masumoto Hitoshi's comedic and bizarre take on sex comedies R100 in the U.S. and they have just released a kinky poster and hilarious trailer.

From the Drafthouse Films R100 web page.

In this audaciously kinky, meta-comedic thriller, a lonely father with a secret taste for S&M (Nao Ohmori, best known for his titular turn in Takashi Miike's Ichi the Killer) hires a boutique dominatrix agency that specializes in guerilla acts of public degradation.

Although the rough treatment and humiliation Takafumi Katayama receives from these leather-clad women--in cafés and on the street--drives him to ecstatic pleasure, he soon finds himself over his head during a surprise house call by one of the mistresses. After a freak and fatal accident, Takafumi is forced into action with a slew of vengeful dominatrices chasing him down. With the help of his son, he'll have to devise a plan to take on the relentless femmes fatales, who each possess a unique S&M talent by which to exact painful revenge.

Drafthouse Films will release R100 in select cinemas and On Demand platforms on January 23rd. If you are in the Austin area on January 18th, come out for The Funniest Man On Earth, a retrospective of Matsumoto's filmography including an early screening of R100

Kudos to Drafthouse for bringing this film over, but let me get a little gripe off my chest: why are some posters/dvd covers for asian films cutting off their faces or eyes? Are they trying to convince Billy Bob in the midwest to pick up this film without being scared off by 'orientals'? Look companies, the people who are going to be picking up R100, 13 Assassins, or Battle Royale don't have a race problem. They know what the deal is. They're okay with asians on their covers.

Its just a little pet peeve of mine. Sorry.

Interesting thought.

In a nearly meaningless ten-minute glance around the web I managed to find the two above (maybe the Jackie Chan doesn't count, but why not?) versus only one example featuring a Caucasian (Piranha 33D, to make obvious reasons even more obvious). I also noted that the Asian-language versions of the Flowers of War cut off Ni Ni's eyes, whereas the US language versions do not (though they frequently simply do not include Asian characters in the image). Anyway, just more data.

I've seen both R100 and WHY DON'T YOU PLAY IN HELL, and Todd was right to eat that shirt.

YojimboDecember 12, 2014 8:47 AM

If this film features Facesitting or female ejaculation we wont get to see it in the UK : ( http://www.theguardian.com/cul...

Stupid closet scene forced me to acknowledge R100 had crossed the requisite '50% as crazy line'. It was a tasty shirt, though, as such things go.

Will you share the recipe?
I have a friend who has a hat to eat.

Think it's something else we can blame the Weinsteins for.

"These cast photographs are running a little too tall for our audiences..."

Ha! One of the chefs at the Drafthouse prepped it for me. Slow cooked for 24 hours in some sort of beef stew sort of confection ...
