Sharlto Copley Offered OLDBOY Villain
Well, now, this is rather intriguing. The casting of Spike Lee's Oldboy remake has been no easy thing but with Josh Brolin long locked in as the lead and Elizabeth Olsen now on board as well the question turns - once again - to the villain. And according to Jeff Sneider at Variety District 9 star Sharlto Copley is now in early talks for the part.
Copley seems a solid choice for the part both in terms of how he would feel opposite Brolin - whoever the part goes to is going to need to have a bit more age and gravity on their side than is typical in Hollywood these days - and for the fact that nobody really knows what Copley's all about yet. He was a complete unknown prior to District 9 and has not yet slipped into any sort of pattern as far as what a typical Copley part looks like, which will play in the filmmakers favor when it comes to keeping the audience off balance.
