Will The Promo For Dario Argento's DRACULA Make You Laugh Or Cry?
Oh, Dario, things haven't gone so well for you lately, have they? Perhaps it's time to consider, you know ... stopping.

A one-time titan of international genre film, Dario Argento has been working on a 3D version of the Dracula story for a while now. And while the casting of Rutger Hauer as Van Helsing gave brief cause for hope all signs since have been poor. And now the film's sales trailer has been posted on YouTube and, well ... it's more of a warning than a promo.

I shouldn't be surprised, considering how horrible Mother of Tears was, but still ... this makes me want to cry. It's beyond bad.

praying mantis!!!!

QinlongDecember 15, 2011 6:44 PM

will Dracula be trying to perfect his own race of atomic supermen ? Because it sure looks like Ed Wood is back in business

Ard VijnDecember 15, 2011 7:24 PM

OK, I was going to play advocate for the devil here and state something about the many shots in this where the effects are not finished, the many shots where colorcoding and post still need to be done, the difference good editing and sound may make...

...until, indeed, I saw that praying mantis.

Dario Argento's Dracula: Dead and Still Loving It

jwalk415December 16, 2011 2:21 AM

This reminds me of a poor version of Subspecies...which was piss-poor itself but at least the filmmakers to that one never had respectable credentials to begin with. Well, maybe Dario wants to outdo Tommy Wiseau's The Room for "so bad, it's good"?

SebastianDecember 16, 2011 3:42 AM

Brilliant! There is no one out there who understand the 80s that good as Argento. A true maestro of european cinema.

prendergastusDecember 16, 2011 5:34 AM

So this is Dario filming his daughter in the nip... again?

CashBaileyDecember 16, 2011 5:51 AM

Oh, God, that looks fucking terrible. I loved it.

Best bit was at .44 when Dracula punches a guys head off.

I don't know what you all mean. This looks INCREDIBLE.

Hobo With A Wooden Stake...

DoppelgangerDecember 16, 2011 6:56 AM

my favorite part is 0:49 when he hisses at his victims to really make them affraid :) jokes aside, this is just embarrasing in all ways, then again its been ages since he made a real masterpiece....

arturoDecember 16, 2011 9:22 AM

R.I.P Dario Argento..........

MarsHottentotDecember 16, 2011 12:38 PM

The real bummer is we very likely won't get to see it in theaters - to laugh at it in the format Argento intended. That said, it looks hilarious to the point where it must be somewhat intentional, yes? Wiseauian heights, indeed.

ryanDecember 17, 2011 4:45 AM

this looks awful and i watch alot of rubbish movies.

thewizardkingDecember 17, 2011 7:42 PM

I'm mostly confused by the way the trailer itself was put together. Somehow, I know less about the story of the movie after watching it than I did before.

ikilledbambiDecember 18, 2011 5:47 PM

if this will end up something like the Witchcraft series, i will enjoy it...

AngeloMay 16, 2012 3:54 PM

I must be crazy, because I'm really looking forward to this. The visuals remind me of a Hammer production, which is a compliment. Maybe shooting in 3D wasn't a great idea, but I'm glad he's working with Tavioli again.
