Lars Von Trier On Nicolas Winding Refn: "Fuck him."
Oh, Lars, you just don't know when to stop.
A brand new interview with Lars Von Trier, conducted to address the controversy around the director's seemingly pro-Hitler comments in Cannes, starts well enough with the director addressing his comments head on and openly acknowledging that they were stupid. He then goes on to claim that he will never do a press conference again.
And then, when asked about the response of Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, whose father Anders edited Von Trier's Antichrist and Breaking The Waves, and who came out publicly stating he was repulsed by Von Trier's comments, the director said simply this: "I've known him since he was a kid! Fuck him."
And, thus, any good will that may have been curried by doing this interview at all goes right out the window as Von Trier casually insults those vocal enough to criticize his behavior. Nice.
