Third Window Films Acquires AKUNIN (VILLAIN) For UK Theatres And Home Video

Third Window Films announces the acquisiton of Lee Sang-il's dramatic thriller 'Villain' ('Akunin').

Nominated for 15 Japanese Academy Awards (winner of 5, including all acting nods), plus winner of the Best Actress gong in Montreal as well as being picked by Kinema Junpo as the Best Japanese Film of 2010, Third Window Films is pleased to once again showcase another contemporary classic to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Look out for a large theatrical release across the UK and Ireland towards the end of Summer, 2011.

Third Window's Adam Torel tells me that this film, though underseen in the West until now, is in his top three Japanese films of 2010, along with Third Window Films' Confessions and Sawako Decides.  With Adam's track record, I'm pretty sure we can count on this being a winner, I'm certainly excited to see it somewhere down the road!
