52 years later, Captain Thorne Sherman fears the 'Return of the Killer Shrews'
Back in 1959, during that great era of American B-cinema, James Best played the role of Captain Thorne Sherman in the film The Killer Shrews. Come 52 years later and Mr. Best is returning to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel, aptly named Return of the Killer Shrews

A TV Reality Show hires Captain Thorne Sherman (James Best) and his boat to cargo supplies to the deserted offshore island they're using as a filming location. Thorne would have refused the job because he's been to that island before and stills sees it in his nightmares. Unfortunately, as the boat departs, Thorne is too hungover to realize where they're going and his first mate Rook needs the money. So they sail -- to a place Thorne Sherman never wanted to see again as long as he lived: the island of the Killer Shrews.

Robert Hood via Undead Backbrain describes the original Shrews - Its titular monsters -- puppets in close-ups and dogs dressed up in ratty fur and big teeth the rest of the time -- are nothing if not memorable. Robert was also kind enough to find the original creature feature online for us and you can watch it after the break! There are also more details and a longer synopsis in his article.

This film would also mark the reunion of good ol` boy Bo Duke and Rosco P. Coltrane. John Schneider is part of the cast, as is Jennifer Lyons, an actress with more than one role on her resume with the word `Stripper` in it. Fingers crossed boys. Fingers crossed.

Thanks always to the ever diligent Avery.
