With the impending release of “Hot Fuzz,” its director Edgar Wright, another equally respectable pop culture junkie, is staging the “Hot Fuzztival” a bonanza of action films being held at the “Institute of Contemporary Arts” from February 3-18 to explore the influences for his action comedy, and his insatiable appetite for action films.

I’m a card carrying member of the “Spaced” fan club, and I have seen “Shaun of the Dead” almost a hundred times. I have a life, thank you. And I’ve looked forward to the premiere of “Hot Fuzz” for a very long time (Attending a screening this Friday). I mean, how can you watch Pegg and Frost engage in an air shoot out in "Spaced" and not think “Man, these guys should be in an action film!”

On the bill are ‘Brannigan,’ the Tony Scott actioner ‘Man on Fire,’ ‘Super Cops,’ and the rare action classic ‘Hard Boiled.’ Also up, is a double bill of “Hot Fuzz,” and “Super Cops” with Wright on hand to introduce many of the titles, and a special Q&A with stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

Oh how I envy anyone within reach of this festival, but Wright and crew really know how to feed the fan boy’s appetite with upfront examples of their influences, and perhaps a welcome insight into the minds of these madmen. “Hot Fuzz” is assuredly another slice of fried gold from the “Spaced” trio, and will be what “Starsky and Hutch” tried to. And you’d do well to take advantage of this guaranteed sell out exhibition, and revel in the impending hysterics.

I envy you out there. I really do.
