Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT Rides Onto Home Video (3/29) & Digital HD (3/15)

Quentin Tarantino's controversial western, The Hateful Eight, lands on Blu-ray& DVD March 29th and VOD on March 15th. According to The Weinstein Company, we'll be getting the shorter release version at about 168 minutes, rather than the longer road show version with the overture and intermission. While it's a tiny bit disappointing, they told us this a long time ago, so it's not a surprise.

Although we won't be getting the longer version, there are a couple of interesting sounding extras attached to the feature. The first is Beyond the Eight: A Behind-the-Scenes Look, presumably a making-of feature, the second is Sam Jackson's Guide to Glorious 70mm, and I'm pretty sure I know what that's about.

I managed to see the film in its road show incarnation, so I'll be interested to see any differences on this Blu-ray, though I understand they are small. Jim Tudor reviewed the road show version, and was very impressed, saying "The Hateful Eight more than satisfies any nagging itch for new work from this uniquely recognizable voice."

Here are the details from TWC:

It would have been a far better film without the flashback scene.. Completely unnecessary and slowed it waaay down. No reason to explain the 'reason' twice.
