El Santo Returns To The Big Screen With Five New Features To Be Directed By Alex De La Iglesia!
Iconic luchador El Santo is returning to the big screen and maverick Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia is the man bringing him there, with Iglesias signing on to direct a series of five new feature films revolving around the Mexican wrestling icon!

One of the most popular Mexican pop culture figures of all time, the original El Santo (Rodolfo Guzman Huerta) began his career in the wring before branching out and eventually starring in more than fifty feature films, all of them featuring the trademark silver mask. Since his death in 1984 the mask has been taken up by Huerta's son, Jorge, who wrestles professionally as The Son Of El Santo and if my limited Spanish is reading the article tweeted by Iglesia correctly, it appears as though Jorge - who controls all rights to the character - is the originator of the films and, presumably, will be starring.

Is there a better person to bring El Santo back to the big screen than Iglesia? I think not. This could be something pretty damn special.
