Trailer: Beware The Bumbling Bombers Of BANGISTAN!
There is a real cinematic upheaval going on in India under the world's noses. In the late '50s, the world was shocked and awed by the French New Wave, a bunch of film critics who decided that they could do it better. You know what, for nearly thirty years, they were right!

Over the last five years or so, the Indian film critic community has begun its own revolution, only this time, they are not only hitting the arthouses, but also the multiplexes. The latest and perhaps most visible example of this trend is the upcoming terrorism comedy, Bangistan, directed by former Mumbai Mirror critic, Karan Anshuman.

Anshuman has become one of India's leading voices in matters of film appreciation and dissent. He co-founded The Ghantas, India's version of the satirical Golden Raspberry Awards. Now, he has been given the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is and crank out a feature of his own, with real stars, and real money. You know what? It looks pretty damn funny, too.

Riteish Deshmukh and Samrat Pulkit are extremists at different ends of the South Asian religious spectrum. When their extremist leaders hear about a conference on religious tolerance in Europe, these willing martyrs are sent to bomb it. The only problem is that they are both complete idiots. Hey! It worked for Four Lions.

Bangistan opens on July 31st.
