The Many Faces Of Helen Mirren
This week, Lasse Hallström's The Hundred-Foot Journey premieres in the US, a story about two restaurants making each other's existence miserable, until mutual respect and romance get the upper hand.
But what caught my eye here was the actress playing the tyrannical proprietress of one of the eateries: the great Helen Mirren.
For decades, Helen Mirren has been very, VERY visible in films across all genres and qualities. Some of her roles are mainstream, some rather more daring, and some quite controversial. But whether she's wearing a crown, holding a gun, or both, she is always awesome, effortlessly switching from smoldering to icy within a second, if need be.
