Italy, it would appear, will be ground zero in the resurrection of Michael Keaton's career. After a long period out of the spotlight the hyper-talented Keaton has been gradually re-entering the conversation over the past few years but it is his part in Alejandro Iñárritu's
Birdman that now gives him the chance to shine in a lead role seemingly tailored for his particular talents
- to say nothing of Ed Norton's underpants - and it will do so on one of the world's largest stages, having just been announced as the opening selection of the Venice International Film Festival. Which means that the generally arthouse heavy festival may actually have a bit of fun this year.
