Your First Look At Superstar Rajnikanth In KOCHADAIYAAN!
I've been waiting for some kind of image to post for Rajnikanth's new latest project, Kochdaiyaan, and the first look poster has finally arrived.

Some of you may recall my posts about all of Rajni's post-Enthiran projects going back over a year, but this is the latest one, and they swear it's gonna happen.  Immediately after Enthiran, Rajni was supposed to work on Sultan (Hara), a 3D animated film with his daughter Soundarya Dhanush. However, that project allegedly morphed into the live action Rana, which was to be directed by KS Ravikumar, but during the first week of shooting, Rajni fell ill and was rushed off to Singapore for medical treatment.  He was in Singapore for a couple of months, and upon his return, everyone said that he needed to convalesce, and that Rana would go back to floors when he was ready.  Well, that didn't happen, or Rajni was more ill than they'd let on, and a third project has come up, and that seems to be what they're going ahead with.

Kochadaiyaan is to be India's first ever motion-capture film, nothing but the best for Superstar. Not only is it motion capture, but also in 3D, ain't that some shit? This does make sense, though. If Rajni's health wasn't robust enough to take on the rigors of a full film shoot for Rana, the controlled conditions and relatively lighter shooting schedule of a mocap film could be a good way to get him back on the big screen sooner rather than later. Hopefully this and Hara don't keep me from seeing the real Rajnikanth on screen for too long, his 3 minute cameo in Ra.One was certainly not enough to scratch that itch.

All of the biggest stars in India have been angling to get a piece of Rajnikanth since Enthiran, and this film has hooked a whopper in the lead female role.  Katrina Kaif, voted the sexiest woman in India and the first Bollywood heroine to have her own Barbie doll, is on board as Superstar's love interest, which is only slightly less creepy that Deepika Padukone in Rana because they'll both be animated.  Also on board is Bollywood character actor Jackie Shroff, and Tamil cutie, Sneha. The word on the street in India is that Puri Jagannadh, director of Mahesh Babu's Pokiri and The Businessman and Amitabh Bachchan's Buddah Hoga Tera Baap, is working on a script which would pair Amitabh and Rajni for the first time in over twenty years.  I would pay any amount for a ticket to that show.

The image above is the first official look at Kochadaiyaan, and it looks very similar to the images we saw for Hara/Sultan, and Rana, leading me to believe that there are some connections between the projects. If nothing else, the animators seem to have designs on giving Superstar Rajnikanth the rockin' abs he deserves.  Bring it on!

According to the imminently trustworthy Wikipedia, Kochdaiyaan is aiming to hit screens this summer, but I think that may be a tad ambitious.  I'll keep you updated.
