FINALLY! LITTLE CIGARS released on MGM MOD DVD

Fellow reviewers, have you ever gotten a film in the mail that you were afraid to watch because you didn't want to sully fond memories? That was the case for me with Little Cigars (1973). I was 13 or 14 and caught it on late night cable. It was about a gang of midget bank robbers who kidnap a regular size woman who promptly falls in love with their leader. Yes I remember it as being one of the hi-points of my goofy movie life, absolutely insane, and yet I was terrified it would bore me.

It did NOT.

Gonzo pathos meets cheesy comedy in a film that cannot be watched with a straight-face.  Definitely worth the thirty years wait. The films stars a wide ranging group of talented little people that will be highly recognizable to most people but more importantly it offers no apologies for what it is. What makes the film work is a badly written if well performed steely-eyed determination to champion the little guy. That and the fact that sometimes a cigar is NOT just a cigar. This is the first time the film has been made available period unless I'm missing details on some obscure VHS release.
