Back in the late 80s and early 90s DIY filmmaking left the underground scene and entered the larger independent circuit at festivals where films such as Richard Linklater's
Slacker and Kevin Smith's
Clerks found studio support. Now In the age of Youtube, DIY has gone back to those underground roots albeit on the most public stage there is... the web. If you're able to get past the student trappings of
Stuck Like Chuck I think you'll will find an earnest, well-acted little feature made by a dedicated, small cast and yes, once student, still tenacious filmmaker, Jerry Cavallaro. The film plays right to the film geek's heart in a way that's reminiscent of Smith's early films, and is currently available in it's entirety on
