Two Fresh Clips From SciFi Horror APOLLO 18
Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But in December of 1974, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it's the real reason we've never gone back to the moon.
In many ways the back story on this film is an object lesson in how Hollywood gets things wrong. Rushed into production on an insanely abbreviated production schedule - it was initially scheduled to release March 4th - purely to steal the thunder from Oren Peli's similarly scifi themed found footage horror project Area 51, producers took their foot off the gas only when Peli's project was itself delayed. Apollo 18 has bounced through a number of release slots since but September 2nd is the real deal.
Why care about a project that exists literally due to some suit at the Weinstein Company - probably Bob - saying, "Hey, the Paranormal Activity guy is making a found footage movie with aliens, let's do one first"? Simply put, two reasons: Producer Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch) and director Gonzalo Lopez Gallego (King Of The Hill). Crap motivation from Dimension or not, these guys don't make bad movies. Check the clips below.
