James McTeigue To Deliver MESSAGE FROM THE KING

One of the more interesting comic book/graphic novel adaptations to be released in the last 10 years is James McTeigue's big-screen version of Alan Moore's V For Vendetta. The film proved McTeigue to be a talented director, mixing cool action with a meaningful story.

He just recently finished working on The Raven with John Cusack playing Edgar Allan Poe, and has now chosen his next directorial project, a thriller by the name of Message From the King. With a script by Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell (who wrote the lackluster Liam Neeson thriller Unknown), the plot "centers on Jacob King, an enigmatic outsider who comes to LA to investigate the sudden disappearance of his sister."

Not exactly a whole lot to go on at the minute but that's the best thing with thrillers like this, isn't it? Going in blind is often half the fun. We can only hope it doesn't feature the same kind of predictable, boring twists and turns that Unknown did (nothing like plot twists to ruin an initially intriguing premise). Having McTeigue at the helm gives me hope, however, as not only did he make V For Vendetta but also Ninja Assassin, a film which may have lacked in the story department but certainly delivered the action goods.

Aaron Ryder will produce the film through FilmNation Entertainment (who already worked with McTeigue on The Raven), alongside Ash Shah and The Ink Factory's Rhodri Thomas. Production is set to begin this Fall.
