Get Your First Real Look At Norwegian Slasher COLD PREY 3!
When Roar Uthaug's Cold Prey (Fritt Vilt) hit Norwegian cinema screens in 2006 it came as something as a risk. As the first true slasher film to emerge from the area nobody knew how audiences would respond to its story of a group of college kids being hunted by a mysterious killer in a remote, abandoned hotel. Luckily for them the film became a huge hit and, in retrospect, now stands as the trigger event for the current wave of Nordic genre film.
Cold Prey quickly spawned a sequel that followed directly on the events of the first picture and later this year - in mid October - a third entry in the series will arrive on Norwegian screens. This latest effort is a prequel picture, the story of what created the killer in the first place.
There has been one teaser for Cold Prey 3 already, a clever announcement piece that cycled through the key events of the first two films in reverse order to let you know not only that the third film was coming but that it would occur before the previous two. But now, with the new teaser, we get our first look at the film itself and what direction new helmer Mikkel Brænne Sandemose is taking things.
In short, this looks fantastic. Stellar production values, an amazing sense of mood and tone, and the promise of significant blood letting. What more could a growing boy want? Check it out below
