Jospeh Gordon-Levitt Cast In Rian Johnson's LOOPER?
Though it is not yet official and not at all surprising that does not make it any less good news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is strongly rumored to be taking the lead in Rian Johnson's upcoming scifi picture Looper.
It's not surprising, of course, because the two have worked together before on Brick, the film that proved a coming out party for both, and Johnson seems very much to be the type of director who likes to build a stable of actors to continue exploring his worlds with.
And it's good for exactly the same reason. They've worked together before and been great together before. And, honestly, in the days since Brick to be the absolute go-to guy for intelligent, American indie film. I'd be very hard pressed to name a single other actor that I'd prefer in this sort of role. And, of course, it's also good purely because it's a sign of life on the project, which has been very quiet, indeed, since Johnson first dropped word of it in August of 2008.
Should all come together the way it looks like it will, Gordon-Levitt will feature as a government operative in a world where time travel has been invented - a man sent back in time to kill himself. Lots of potential for some smart noir leanings there, to which I say yes, please.
