First Ten Minutes Of Jake West's DOGHOUSE Online!

When I spoke with director Jake West about his upcoming horror comedy Doghouse a few weeks back one thing that struck me was how he referred to his new splatter opus as being an actual film - my words there, not his - as opposed to Evil Aliens, which was basically an exercise in adolescent wish fulfillment. I was surprised because while the trailer for the film - find it here - certainly demonstrated higher production values than Evil Aliens it still seemed very much in keeping with West's previous work. Well, those comments make sense now.

The fine folk over at Empire Magazine have just posted the first ten minute of Doghouse online so that we can all take a look and this is - at the start, anyway - a nice little piece of character-based film making. The entire core group of characters is introduced in short order, each of them quickly established as distinct personalities and the basic emotional setup put in place quickly and easily. Sure, they're all a bunch of lads looking to go get pissed and act stupid for a weekend but they're a totally believable bunch of lads looking to go get pissed and act stupid, and there's something to be said for that.

Here's hoping the distribution situation on this one outside of the UK gets sorted soon because I rather want to see it.
