Von Trier's At It Again ...

Here's what I love about Lars Von Trier: whether his films succeed or not the man is never satisfied. He's always looking for something new, always looking to push both the boundaries of his medium and his fellow artists. What's he up to now? Well, Von Trier has recruited three film makers - Andrea Arnold, Morag McKinnon and Mikkel Norgaard - to take part in The Advance Party. Each film maker will make their own film using the same cast, playing the same characters and using the same sets with the three films shooting conurrently in Glasgow over a six week span.

I love this idea. Absolutely love it. It's ahuge challenge both to directors and actors and should give us some pretty fascinating takes and differing perspectives on the cast of characters. And though you may not have heard of these three film makers it's not like they're rookies ... McKinnon's been nominated for a BAFTA and Arnold's most recent short - Wasp - has won a stack of awards and is currently nominated for an Oscar.

Now if only someone would spill the beans on Von Trier's Antichrist project ...
