Conan Lee is Back! As Himself. In a Drama.

According to casting notices posted online today, old-school action star Conan Lee - he of Ninja in the Dragon's Den and Tiger on the Beat fame - is making a return to leading man status in a film called "MMA".

But lest you think this is going to be an action flick, the logline is as follows:

Action film star, CONAN LEE, is more than willing to put his career on hold to care for his ailing mother.  He sees the sacrifice as a simple gesture of gratitude, happy to give back to the woman who gave him everything."

Maybe "MMA" has the double meaning of "Ma" lengthened out with an extra "M". But in any event this sounds like a straight up drama, plainly based on Lee's own life when he stopped working on films in the 90's to take care of his mom.

Filming is set to begin end of September, with Lee starring and directing from his own script. Casting of additional roles in underway.
