COLD DECK: When You Go After Someone, A Blunderbuss-Axe Is Your Weapon Of Choice
The worldwide rights for the Canadian crime thriller Cold Deck have been picked up by Screen Media Ventures. The film stars Paul Sorvino, Robert Knepper and Stéfano Gallo.
Screen Media Ventures are currently at MIPCOM in Cannes this week to sell the feature film, then follow up sales at AFM. The first trailer for the thriller has been released. It features Robert Knepper sporting a blunderbuss-axe. I kid you not.
Stuck in a dead-end job that can barely pay for his mother's medical care, Bobby Locke's (Gallo) only escape is poker. His skills at the table are put to the test regularly at 'Scruples', a club run by an enigmatic father-figure affectionately known as 'Chips' (Sorvino). Fed up with his lot in life, Bobby decides to seize the opportunity that arises when he is invited to a secret high-roller game, and along with his friend Ben, plots to rob these wealthy businessmen. Unfortunately, the game is presided by Turk, who viciously sets out to get revenge. Now Bobby is caught up in a new kind of game, one that could threaten his very survival.
Cold Deck is directed by Zack Bernbaum (And Now a Word From Our Sponsor), based on a screenplay by Jason Lapeyre (I Declare War, Cold Blooded), Stéfano Gallo and Slater Jewell-Kempker.
