Helsinki 2015: Watch The Trailer For Japanese Cinematic Stage Play LEGACY OF SOMA - AONORAN
Get a taste from Japan's top theatrical entertainment scene when the Geki x Cine production Legacy of Soma - Aonoran plays Helsinki International Film Festival. If you aren't heading to Finland perhaps the below trailer will suffice.

In an effort to bring Japan's big budget, lavishly produced stage theater shows to a wider audience Geki x Cine utilizes cinematic techniques to transfer the excitement of a stage play to the cinema. Shot on HD digital cinema cameras with surround sound technology, the recorded play is then cut and edited as if it were a movie, with close-ups, inter-titles and special effects resulting in something in-between cinema and theater.

Legacy of Soma - Aonoran is an epic fantasy drama of 11th-century Japan featuring fierce warriors, warring armies and talking horses. Amami Yuki (Inugami, Ponyo) stars in the title role of Soma, a court fortune-teller driven out of her home who finds love in exile before rising to become a great leader. Her lover is Masakado, a samurai with an affinity for horses, played by Matsuyama Ken'ichi (Gantz, Norwegian Wood, Death Note). In a world ravaged by war the machinations of those in power result in death and betrayal and a final devastating climax for the tragic heroes. Comedy, drama and music are all combined within the sweeping story for an experience unique to viewers outside of Japan.

Helsinki International Film Festival takes place September 17th - 27th.
