Hugh Laurie Out, Michael Keaton In As ROBOCOP Villain
When word came out last week that negotiations had broken off for Hugh Laurie to join Jose Padilha's remake of RoboCop as the lead villain the question immediately became "If not Laurie, then who?" And here's the answer:
Michael Keaton has signed on the dotted line and has officially taken on the part.
After peaking as a Hollywood leading man with his two films playing Batman for Tim Burton of interesting followed by a string of interesting, more arthouse and support roles in the early 90s, Keaton slipped into a sort of bad DTV hell for the latter part of the 90s and most of the 2000s. But perhaps his very funny bit in 2010 action comedy The Other Guys was enough to put him back on casting agents' radar because Keaton now has the Dimension thriller Penthouse North in the can with this - far and away his most high profile role in well over a decade - following close behind.
