Screen Gems Takes Remake Rights To Gareth Evans' THE RAID
Following lengthy negotiations American remake rights for Toronto International Film Festival hit The Raid have gone to Screen Gems. Writer-director Gareth Evans will serve as an executive producer on the remake, though he'll be too busy writing and directing the Indonesian sequel to the original film to be involved as writer or director on this one. XYZ Films - executive producers on the original Indonesian version - will be serving as producers on the English version.

To any concerned that the planned remake may delay the North American release of the original, fear not. That's not going to happen. Expect an announcement about release plans soon.

And, putting my producer hat on for a moment as I'm part of XYZ, fight fans speak up now: What English speaking fighters would you like to see in the remake? We're hoping to showcase a fistful of them, so speak up now.
