STRAW DOGS Blu but not Criterion. What to do?

This is a release that hurts a little. The definitive version of the film is the 2003 two-disc released by Criterion which was packed with extras and had a fine transfer. Is this better? Well, yes. The film looks better, but all you get are a couple of TV spots and a trailer. It seems a shame but it boils down to whether or not you're willing to wait until the inevitable Bluray special edition. Even then I would hang on to your Criterion release. Straw Dogs is an amazing blend of great performances, gripping writing and stellar direction that even now has the power to hold an audience in appalled fascination. If you've never seen the film before then by all means start with this Bluray. But prepare yourself And for heaven's sake stay away from that awful recent remake.
