CONFIRMED: Bale And Bennet In New Terrence Malick Project. And They're Already Working.
Back in August ScreenAnarchy was the first to report that Christian Bale had been cast in a new, as-yet-untitled project with director Terrence Malick. After leaving enormous gaps between projects in his early career it seems Malick is now making up for lost time with multiple projects on the go.
He's got the romantic drama with Ben Affleck and Rachel Weisz known at one time as Burial in the can already. He's got his documentary project Voyage Of Time in the works. And now he's also got this untitled project coming up with Christian Bale.
And it may be coming sooner than anybody thought. Our initial sources told us that shooting was scheduled to begin on the project in early 2012 but, lo and behold, observers at Austin City Limits on September 16th spotted Malick and Bale already filming together on stage at a Bright Eyes set. Given the location and the back stage passes Bale is wearing in this photo of the two together it seems very clear there is some sort of explicit musical element to the story.
Further to this our original sources told us that Malick was closely considering the quartet of Rooney Mara, Haley Bennet, Clemence Poesy and Mia Wasikowska for the female lead and with Haley Bennet also spotted filming in Austin it would appear that decision has been made now as well.
