Albert Pyun unleashed!!!! CAPTAIN AMERICA (1992) MGM MOD.

One of the glories of MOD is the huge pile of previously unreleased insanity it taps into. True there are plenty of serious classics that need to see the light of day but there are also lots, and lots of films like Albert Pyun's Captain America. Lensed in 1990 before anyone could say, "Put that thing down!" this schlock-fest offers a religious experience for those of us who grew up watching stuff like Bixby's Hulk, the live action Spiderman TV series or (a more appropriate) The Secrets of Isis and Shazam! It hasn't aged well but that's a big part of the charm and yes, it is often very, very funny without meaning to be. I can't recommend this enough. The plot has The Red Skull defeating Captain America in 1941. Cap is thrown into suspended animation but awakened and forced to face his nemesis again fifty years later. Purists need not apply but you do get both Red Skull and Cap origin stories.
