Matthew Goode Beats Out Franco, Fassbender, Firth And Edgerton For Male Lead In Park Chan-Wook's STOKER
Meet the creepy uncle in the upcoming English language debut from Oldboy director Park Chan-Wook. Matthew Goode is reportedly now in talks to take on the male lead - opposite the already cast Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman - in Park's Stoker.
Working from a script by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller, Stoker revolves around a teenage girl who strikes up a relationship with a mysterious uncle following the death of her father. That makes it very much Wasikowska's film but, given the persistent rumors of vampirism and other shady aspects to the uncle, the male lead is going to be a meaty part as well and the chance to work with Park had attracted all manner of high level talent with James Franco, Michael Fassbender, Colin Firth, Joel Edgerton and others all in the mix at one point or another. But it was Goode who won out, despite a much lower profile. Goode is best known at this stage for his role as Ozymandias in Zack Snyder's Watchmen and will next turn up in UK romcom Burning Man. There's a pill for that.
