He's the little barbarian that could. While audiences around the world continue to be unimpressed by trailers for the upcoming reboot of Conan, another has stepped in to take up arms and defend the barbarian way of life. A way of life built around swords, thongs and hair metal. Yup, it's Ronal.

Danish animated feature Ronal The Barbarian rode into the Cannes Marche Du Film armed with an extended 3D promo of footage from the film and rode out with distribution deals in better than fifteen territories, most of which will include theatrical release. Not bad for a movie that isn't even finished yet. Sold territories include France, Germany, Russia / CIS, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Turkey, China, Poland, and India. Distribution through Scandinavia is already in place.

What's so impressive about this one that people are willing to pony up based only on a promo? Check out the trailer below for a reminder. And sing along.

Ronal is a young barbarian with low self-esteem, the polar opposite of all the muscular barbarians in his village. He's a real wuss. However, as fate would have it, responsibility for the tribe's survival falls on Ronal's scrawny shoulders, when the evil Lord Volcazar raids the village and abducts every living barbarian. With the exception of Ronal, who is forced to go on a perilous quest to save his enslaved clan and thwart Volcazar's plot to rule the world. Along the way, our unlikely hero is joined by Alibert the buttery bard, Zandra the gorgeous shield-maiden and Elric the metrosexual elfin guide. To ultimately vanquish the enemy, the band must overcome awesome challenges.
