Sideshow SILVER SURFER PREMIUM FORMAT EXCLUSIVE

I do not collect comic book statuary and my interest in comics lies mostly in one off graphic novels. But when Sideshow sent this it almost made me change my "collective" mind. At almost two feet tall and nearly as deep this piece is certainly impressive. It comes with several display options shown here and I'd go so far as to say that even though I regularly trade items away for pieces I'd rather have this is the definitive Silver Surfer piece and I don't think I'd be getting rid of it anytime soon. If I feel that way I can't imagine how a die-hard Marvelite would feel. If you have the scratch then by all means get this. You will not be disappointed.

You get three heads. One focussed calmly and confidently on the path ahead, one full of the fury of the power cosmic, and one showing the agony of ultimate betrayal. The arms include a pair of plain outstretched, a pair that trail the power cosmic and one arm bent with curled fist. This allows for so many posing options I haven't even counted them all. This is the regular version as well you understand. The Exclusive version comes with a nice print featuring the Surfer and Galactus. I can't recall a premium format with this many accessories and though it is still currently available I'm all but certain that it will increase significantly in value once the 600 piece edition sells through.

As seen in these pictures the power cosmic is a big part of this piece. I was sure it would look cheesy. It doesn't . It looks elegant and ethereal. I don't know how the effect was achieved but it looks like a series of paint applications over a translucent resin or polystone. The power cosmic is attached to the surf board not the base so it can be put exactly where you want it adding yet more display options. It's also felted on the bottom so no danger scratching the base. if you decide to adjust the position of it. My only criticism is that the seams joining the arms show a bit much if you have the statue displayed higher. The words "grail piece" hover at my fingertips as a type but as those words are so overused these days I'l simply say that this would appear to be the definitive Silver Surfer piece.
