Michael Madsen And Rutger Hauer Orchestrate THE FIFTH EXECUTION
I would say that Michael Madsen had become the new Billy Zane if not for the fact that Billy Zane is still busy being Billy Zane, but you catch my meaning. Madsen is now well and truly one of those guys who trades on a brief moment in the son as a legitimate actor in successful movies and is available to go anywhere and do anything for pretty much the cost of a bottle of scotch and a carton of cigarettes. He specializes in those special kind of B-films - films that need just enough name recognition to become top tier video titles internationally but not so much name recognition that you'd have to actually pay anyone. And, hey, it keeps him busy.
Case in point, The Fifth Execution, a Russian backed action flick in which Madsen costars with Rutger Hauer and MMA fighter Fedor Emelianenko - the real draw in the film's country of origin and the guy Madsen and Hauer are here to legitimize - in a story about Big Pharmaceutical wreaking havoc upon the third world. And then going and shooting people so nobody will find out. The shooting is important.
