A team of eight talented students from
Animation Workshop, a school in Denmark, brings a grim yet fresh visual style for their 2011's bachelor film project
The Backwater Gospel. The short is reminiscent more of a horror flick rather than a western, seamlessly combining CG and flash animation with morbid character designs render in a cell-shaded illustration quality.
As long as anyone can remember, the coming of The Undertaker has meant the coming of death. Until one day the grim promise fails and tension builds as the God fearing townsfolk of Backwater wait for someone to die.
